From a 900 square foot kitchen to a new chapter in Friendswood.
Azahar’s story began in 2015 with Habaneros Tex-Mex Kitchen, a cozy 900 square foot restaurant in Friendswood. Family owned and operated from the beginning, Habaneros was built on homemade recipes, food prepared from scratch, hard work, and genuine hospitality.
Over the years, that little restaurant became a neighborhood favorite. Guests became regulars, and regulars became friends that now feel like family. The support of the Friendswood community allowed a small kitchen with only a handful of tables to grow into something greater than we ever imagined.
Azahar means orange blossom—something new and beautiful growing from strong roots.
The name is new and the space is bigger, but the heart behind it is the same. Azahar grew from that history. It is not a replacement for Habaneros, but a new restaurant shaped by everything we have learned since 2015. Azahar offers a different experience, with the same heart, made-from-scratch Mexican dishes, craft cocktails, and a larger space for gathering, celebrating, and creating memories.
Habaneros will remain in its cozy home, continuing to serve its scratch-made breakfasts and the homemade meals guests have come to love. Azahar simply gives us room to create something new while carrying forward the same commitment to quality, care, and welcoming service.
Different names and different experiences, built on the same family owned and operated foundation.
Welcome to Azahar, the newest chapter in a story that began in a 900 square foot kitchen.
